Gombe Stream National ParkSize: 52 km² - the smallest national park of Tanzania. Location: western Tanzania, 16 km north of Kigoma on the shores of Lake Tanganyika.
A thin strip of ancient forest set in the mountains, is the remnants of the once large chimpanzee territory which now offers living space to several monkey species and especially to a chimpanzee community. Gombe has become famous due to the British researcher Jane Goodall who has been studying these animals since 1960. Carnivores are a rarity and therefore this park is suitable for walking safaris.Back to overview
